Sweet Home Alabama

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, Ethan Embry

Directed by: Andy Tennant

Written by: Douglas J. Eboch (story) C. Jay Cox (screenplay)

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Our Rating: 8 out of 10

Just like in Legally Blonde Reese plays a young woman whose character does a 180 turn in order to bring joy and happiness into everyone's lives. She plays a hard-working fashion designer (Melanie) with an embarrassing redneck past and when her high-profile boyfriend proposes to her, she has to go back to Alabama to smooth things out.

Witherspoon is Hollywood's new (bubbly) "it girl" and she is fun to watch on screen. Sure the movie is naïve and silly at times, but Reese keeps it interesting and entertaining. Bring back the little dog for Chapter 3: Legally Blonde 2. Hey, if the formula is working, why not?!

I saw this film at the Tinseltown theaters on upper Peach Street in Erie.
