In a summer filled with the usual lazily-executed sequel cash-ins, The Bourne Ultimatum stands head and shoulders above the rest. Ultimatum is essentially a direct continuation of Supremacy in both the trilogy’s timeline and style. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) finds himself wounded and deep in the middle of his mission to find out who he is and how he became an assassin. After learning of and blowing through one secret government organization in Supremacy, he charges into the next one here, and thankfully by the end, all questions are answered! Greengrass and Damon have already said there will not be any more films in this series, and while that may shock some, it makes me happy to know there are filmmakers out there that know when to quit while they’re on top. As I touched on before, the style here is just as frenetic as the previous film, shaky-cam and all, which may be a turn off for some viewers (just sit further back in the theater). The film is filled to the brim with action and energy, and the series should stand the test of time for decades to come. Action lovers rejoice! I saw this film at Cinemark’s
