For the technology-minded, Palm Sunday is an interesting read. Part techno-thriller, part mystery, the book delves into several subplots that all intertwine. At the center is a palm computer. When a child finds it, his Dad tries to hack into it to find information about the owner so that the device can be returned. What follows is a tale of intrigue and subterfuge that involves corporate ethics and misguided uses of technology.

These days we often find ourselves wondering if technology has gone too far. Will a day come when technology can change our societal profile? Are people currently tapping into Internet lines for their own dastardly diversions? Author William R. Vitanyi, Jr. touches on all of these ideas in his book, which was published through Aventine Press, a specialist in print-on-demand publishing.

As much a primer on Internet and computing devices as it is a foray into the ethics of corporate regimes, Palm Sunday will make you question "right" and "wrong" and how far is too far. While Internet aficionados will likely relate to the technology terms within the book's 352 pages, I believe that anyone with a cursory knowledge of Internet terminology should do fine. Most terms are explained in context.

As there are multiple storylines and characters running through the book, it might be helpful to keep a cheat sheet handy as to who works for what company, particularly if you happen to put the book down for a week or two as I did.
